eROSITA successfully launched

eROSITA X-ray telescope onboard Spektrum Roentgen Gamma (SRG) space mission successfully lifted off from the Baikonur cosmodrome on Saturday, July 13 at 14:31.

SRG is a Russian-German space mission, which was developed and built by a consortium of German institutes supported by Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) and led by the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics (MPE).

Dr. Guizzo provided to Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics of Garching the FMECA analysis of the whole electronic equipment of eROSITA.

At 1.5 million kilometres from Earth, eROSITA will perform a deep survey of the entire X-ray sky over the next four years, providing the first ever deep imaging survey of the sky at soft and hard X-rays.

eROSITA is formed by an array of seven telescopes everyone with its own camera electronics as shown in the picture.
